What am I Roasting Now?

What am I Roasting Now?

On a recent trip abroad I managed to get my hands on about 10kg of the very unique Khawlani Coffee bean thats grown in the southern mountainous region of Jizan Saudi Arabia.

This bean is typically used in the preparation of Arabic Coffee a method of preparation where you grind lightly roasted beans and infuse them with spices like cardamom, ginger, and saffron. The resulting brew has a unique smell and taste, and if done properly, a beautiful golden hue.

I would enjoy this golden coffee as much as I could. drinking it morning, noon, and night. Easy to do in Saudi Arabia because we were always visiting and Arabic Coffee was always part of the amazing generosity of my hosts.

Rich and complex with notes of Chocolate, florals, and fruits. khawlani coffee is a favourite among coffee experts and presents a smooth and pleasant cup.

I'll be roasting these in my FreshRoast SR800 two ways. Lightly roasted so you can enjoy a beautiful cup of Arabic style coffee, as well as a darker roast that will expose a completely different flavour profile of the bean.

Needless to say, I'm excited to spend the time perfecting the roasting of this great little bean.
